Building Information
Modeling: Current Activity and CSI Focus
This month
presentation will be presented by Roger J. Grant; Director, Technical
Services and Development for The Construction Specification Institute.
BIM is a technology that can improve the efficiency of the building
process. The building industry is by nature a fragmented enterprise that
has the opportunity of creating new ways to collaborate through
implementing modeling technology. By “Building It First Digitally” the
building team can analyze the design and capture the results for
analysis and management of the project. This program will highlight the
potential and reality of implementing BIM on projects to develop and
manage project information. Current activities of CSI, the BuildingSmart
Alliance and other organizations to develop standards, formats and
practice guidelines to enable open collaboration and how it affects the
role of the specifier will be presented and discussed.
